Saugatuck Public Schools
Welcome!
Saugatuck Public Schools is a progressive, community-centered district with less than 1000 preschool through 12th grade students. Our district is made up of three buildings. The early childhood center houses our 3-year-old and 4-year-old preschool programs and the independent, Educare Daycare Center. Douglas Elementary School is a pre-kindergarten through 5th grade building. Saugatuck Middle/High School houses our 6th through 12th grade students.
Our small class sizes, excellence in offerings, and commitment to providing a personalized education for each of our students makes Saugatuck Public Schools a choice district for families. Our classrooms are student centered. We know that a combination of rigor and relationships is necessary to help students grow emotionally and achieve academic excellence. We believe that a strong academic standard, combined with enrichment in art, technology, music, drama, foreign language, leadership, and athletics, gives students the experiences they need to help them become healthy, creative adults.
Saugatuck Public Schools' teachers are leaders in the area of differentiated instruction. We believe in meeting each student at his/her academic level coming into the classroom and taking them to the next level. We do this by varying instructional techniques and assessments based on student readiness, learning styles, and interest. Our teacher teams and administrators have lead teacher inservices in neighboring districts and presented at state and national workshops and conferences in the area of differentiated instruction.
In 2008, our community was ranked 23rd in America's Top 50 Best Places in the Nation to Raise a Family for Less by Business Week Magazine. Of the schools recognized in the article, our schools ranked 5th in the nation.
